Our story

From a small workshop
to Kyiv’s favourite roastery

Founded in 2019 on Podil, we’ve stayed true to one principle: coffee that’s honest, fresh, and worth talking about.

The beginning

Two friends, one drum roaster

Kyiv Roasters was born from a conversation between Andrii — a barista who had spent three years pulling shots at award-winning cafés in Kyiv — and Nastia, an agricultural scientist who had studied coffee cultivation in Lviv. They shared a frustration: exceptional beans were reaching Ukraine, but leaving the roastery in mediocre condition.

In September 2019 they leased a 60m² space on Spaska Street in Podil, installed a second-hand 10kg Probat drum roaster, and started roasting. Word spread fast through the Kyiv specialty scene.

How we source

We travel to origin

Twice a year Andrii travels to Ethiopia, Colombia, and Guatemala to cup alongside farmers, visit washing stations, and hand-select the lots we’ll bring to Kyiv. Every bean on our menu comes with full traceability — farm, region, altitude, process.

We pay above Fairtrade minimums because we believe quality relationships produce quality coffee. Our farmers know us by name, and we know their harvest seasons better than some of our own calendar dates.

What drives us

Our values

  • Transparency

Every bag tells you the farm, altitude, harvest year, and roast date. No mystery blends, no marketing fog.

  • Craft

Small-batch roasting lets us fine-tune every profile. We never sacrifice quality for speed or volume.

  • Community

We host free cuppings, publish brewing guides, and support Ukrainian cafés. Coffee is better when shared.
